Description

An exclusive journey that combines the adventure of the Short Inca Trail with the most iconic entrance to Machu Picchu through Inti Punku, the Sun Gate. This unforgettable route weaves together nature, history, and extraordinary landscapes along one of the most celebrated trekking experiences in the Andes.

Itinerary

Your journey begins at dawn with a scenic train ride through the Sacred Valley, following the course of the Urubamba River to the legendary Km 104, the starting point of the trek.

After crossing the bridge over the river, you will enter the historic network of trails built by the Incas. The first stop is the archaeological site of Chachabamba, before continuing along ancient stone pathways surrounded by lush vegetation, wild orchids, and hidden waterfalls characteristic of the Andean cloud forest.

As the trail unfolds, you will encounter ever-changing landscapes where mountains, cloud forest, and remarkably preserved Inca structures blend seamlessly into the natural environment. One of the highlights of the day is the visit to Wiñay Wayna, widely regarded as one of the most impressive archaeological complexes along the entire Inca Trail.

After enjoying a box lunch along the route, you will continue toward Inti Punku, the historic Sun Gate. From this privileged viewpoint, you will enjoy your first panoramic view of Machu Picchu—an unforgettable sight that for centuries welcomed travelers arriving on foot to the ancient citadel.

You will then descend by bus to Aguas Calientes, where you can relax and prepare for the following day’s visit to Machu Picchu.

The morning begins with a bus ride up the winding road leading to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

Once inside the citadel, you will enjoy a private guided tour of approximately two and a half hours, exploring its principal temples, plazas, terraces, and ceremonial spaces. Along the way, your guide will share the historical, architectural, and cultural insights that have made Machu Picchu one of the world’s most admired archaeological sites.

After the guided visit, you will have free time in Aguas Calientes before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo.

Upon arrival, private transportation will take you back to Cusco, concluding an experience that combines natural beauty, cultural heritage, and one of Peru’s most iconic trekking routes.
